"I teach at Lafayette Elementary School in Lafayette, CA. In an effort to make it easier for my colleagues to get their PE minutes into our busy days, I offer them suggestions occasionally on how to engage their students in meaningful activities. Using your Fitness Skillastics game, I copied the skills onto tagboard, laminated them, and put them in ziplock bags. At one of our faculty meetings, I spread out the game mat, game pieces, and proceeded to show them how fun it is. We passed out the packages of cards and told them to just send a child to my room to get the game bag when they wanted to play! We talked about having each child take one card and learn that skill, teach it to the class, then collect the cards and play the game. I told them they could play either inside or out. I guaranteed that the children would be exhausted when they were done! It has worked well! The children beg to play the game! My class has a 1st grade buddy class and we will be teaching them how to play after Spring Break. My students will show them how the exercises are done by having them look at the pictures, so they can then play the game by themselves. The reception by the teachers has been great. "Basketball and Fitness Skillastics are an integral part of our curriculum at Ketterlinus. I use the games in large group settings and in station work with smaller groups. The kids love the tasks and it allows me to observe and help the ones who need extra attention. The Basketball Skillastics game is also used in conjunction with our TOT Basketball program. It helps the kids perfect skills that are used in their performance routines. We have a big emphasis on fitness in our school and I use the Fitness Skillastics game along with other fitness based games in station rotations."
